AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE: Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

What to do?

  1. Take advantage of proper crop insurance scheme Applicable in your area.
  2. Four insurance schemes are being implemented Prime Minister Housing Insurance Scheme (PMFBY), Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS), Coconut Palm Insurance Scheme (CPIS), and Pilot Integrated Package Insurance Scheme (UPIS) (45) District).
  3. If you get crop loans for notified crops, then coverage under PMFBY / WBCIS / CPIS / UPIS is mandatory.
  4. Coverage for non-debtor farmers is voluntary.
  5. Contact the District Agricultural Officers of the State Government. Bank / PACS Common Branch Service center (CSC) or crop insurance company operating in your area to avail the benefits Under Crop Insurance Scheme

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

  1. Insurance/protection for food crops, oilseeds, and annual horticulture Commercial crops notified by the state government. The maximum premium for all farmers.
    (I) Kharif season – 2% of the sum insured.
    (II) Rabi Season 1.5% of the sum insured.
    (III) Annual commercial/horticultural crops – 5% of the sum insured
  2. The difference between the actual premium and insurance rate Payable by the farmers will be shared equally by the center and the state.
  3. Full Sum Assured (SI) claims without capping or reduction in SI. If sowing is not done due to adverse weather/climate, it is claimed 25% Sum Assured will be paid for the insured sowing/planting risk.
  4. When crop yield is less than the guaranteed yield of notified crops, Claim payment equal to yield reduction is payable to all insured Farmers.
  5. If there is a 50% loss in the mid-season of the crop, then on the advance payment 25% of the potential claims will be paid as immediate relief.
  6. Flood, hail, and landslide damage will be assessed At the individual farm level.
  7. Assess crop loss for damage to crops in harvesting and propagation 14 days of ground due to cyclonic rain and unseasonal rain Whole country.
  8. Use of remote sensing techniques and drones to supplement the crop Use cuts for faster settlement of claims.
  9. The implementing agency will be selected by the state government language.

 

Unified Package Insurance Scheme (UPIS) as a pilot in notified districts.

  1. To provide financial security and comprehensive risk coverage of crops, Property, life, and student security to farmers.
  2. The pilot will consist of seven-segment viz. Crop Insurance (PMFBY / WBCIS), Loss Of Life (PMJJBY), Accidental Death and Disability (PMSBY), Student Safety, Household, agricultural implements, and tractors.
  3. Crop insurance will be mandatory. However, farmers can at least choose The remaining two volumes.
  4. Farmers may be able to obtain all the required insurance products for farmers. Through a simple proposal/application form and through a Window.
  5. The two major schemes of the government are PMSBY and PMJJBY Involved in addition to insurance of assets.
  6. The pilot scheme will be implemented through a single window.
  7. Processing of claims (other than crop insurance) on an individual basis claim report.

Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS)

  1. Insurance cover for notified food crops, oilseeds, and annuals Horticultural / Commercial Crops.
  2. The maximum premium for all farmers like PMFBY:
    a) Kharif season – 2% of the sum insured.
    b) Rabi Season 1.5% of the sum insured.
    c) Commercial/horticultural crops 5% of sum insured.
  3. The difference between the actual premium and insurance rate Payable by the farmers will be shared equally by the center and the state.
  4. When the weather index (rain/temperature / relative humidity/wind) Speed etc. is different (more or less) from the guaranteed season The index of notified crops is the claim payment equal to deviation/deficiency Payable to all insured farmers in the notified area.
  5. Provision for assessment of the damage caused by hail and cloudburst Individual farm level.
  6. The implementing agency will be selected by the state government language.

Coconut Palm Insurance Scheme (CPIS)

  1. Insurance cover for coconut palm growers
  2. The premium rate per palm is Rs. Ranging from 9.00 (in 4 years of age plant) Up to 15 years) Rs. 14.00 (in the age group of 16–60 years old plant).
  3. 50-75% of the premium is provided to all types of farmers.
  4. When the palm is damaged, the claim payment is equal to the input cost loss Damage is payable to the insured in notified areas.
